After an early career in BP and Mars, his ‘epiphany’ came from a year as a business volunteer with VSO in the Balkans in 2000. The next 15 years were spent founding and scaling Accenture’s global “not-for-loss” consulting business, Accenture Development Partnerships. This innovative venture attracted significant media attention, won Accenture international awards for Corporate Social Responsibility and Gib himself was voted the UK’s Management Consultant of the year in 2008.
He left Accenture in 2016 to explore new ways of supporting purpose driven insurgencies within the corporate world and to write his first book: “The Intrapreneur: Confessions of a Corporate Insurgent”. Gib is a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield Universiy and serves on the Board of The END Fund and The League of Intrapreneurs.
‘The Intrapreneur: An inspiring personal account of how purpose and well-being can transform the business world.’
Today, over half of the largest economies in the world are global businesses – controlled by the few, and impacting the many. Business clearly has the power to change the world – but what if we, as individuals, had the power to change the world of business? For over a decade, Gib Bulloch led a corporate “guerrilla movement” within one of the world’s largest global consulting organisations. Against the odds, he created a not-for-profit inside one of the most profit driven corporations in the world. Plaudits, prizes and promotions followed. But success came at a price: It ultimately cost him his job, his health and perhaps even his sanity as he found himself the unlikely resident of a psychiatric hospital in Glasgow.
The Intrapreneur is an honest and insightful critique of the “craziness” of today’s business environment – and a call to action for a new breed of social activist working within, about to join or completely disillusioned by today’s business world. Finding your purpose… can feel like losing your mind.
Further praise for The Intrapreneur:
‘A story of courage, determination and persistence, told with a com- bination of wit, pathos and refreshing honesty’
Paul Polman, CEO Unilever
‘It’s refreshing to see business leaders like Gib Bulloch break the taboo surrounding mental health in the workplace by speaking up, openly and honestly, about their personal experiences.’
Alastair Campbell, writer and broadcaster
