Gordon Herbert was the national coach of the German national basketball team and coached the team to its first ever world title at the 2023 FIBA World Championship in Japan & Philippines.

On their way to gold, the German basketball team sensationally won 113:111 against the NBA stars from the USA in the semi-finals. In the World Cup final, Gordon Herbert and the German “Dream Team” were crowned unbeaten basketball world champions.

As Head Coach of FC Bayern Munich Basketball, Gordon Herbert and his team became German champions in 2025. Starting in the summer of 2026, Gordon Herbert will become head coach of the Canadian men's national team. Herbert, who hails from Penticton, British Columbia, will prepare the Canadian basketball team for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

As a club coach in the Bundesliga, he became German champion and European Cup winner with the Frankfurt Skyliners, coached Alba Berlin, Würzburg as well as in the NBA (co-coach in USA, Canada) and in Finland, France, Austria and Greece.
